So shortly after what happened with CK - but I think it’s a good reminder for everyone here not to f*** around with your health.

Basically had some minor chest pains and shortness of breath when doing anything physical. Admittedly I’m not in what you’d call “good” physical condition - but not this bad ever either. Talking winded climbing steps from basement to first floor of the house.

So instead of doing what I should have done (went to an ER immediately) - I pissed around and waited. Finally said I should see my Dr a few days later after no noticeable change. Went to Dr at noon today and was in ER at 1p after EKG showed a heart attack.

Likely heart cath tomorrow and hope nothing serious or lasting damage. Fingers crossed - but all I can say is this is not fun to deal with at age 50.

Time for some changes obviously - but just want to share in case any of you knuckleheads thought like me you’re too young or it’s no big deal. Hopefully out Saturday if all is well. Just take care of yourselves and remember plenty of people are counting on you.

Sorry to read this! Have you had any other health problems when you were younger?

Aside from diabetes the last 7-8 years from being an admitted lazy fat ass who focuses more on work than getting out and excercising no.

Been one of those “I’ll start slowing down and taking better care of myself someday” types - well guess it’s today - or at least whenever I’m out of here.

Having went through so many health issues with both my parents for a decade - kinda a shock to the system being told what happened - thankfully sounds like a “silent” heart attack vs something much more serious. It’s one thing thinking you it’s just about yourself - it’s another when your laying in the bed listening to the dr talk and having to look over at your wife’s face - saw that look before on my moms face with my dad and never wanted to see something like that again.

So yea - if something doesn’t feel right - say something and don’t play around.

When you were younger or currently did you or do you do drugs? Just curious. Feel better and take care of yourself! You are one of the people I really enjoy their posts! You are by far the best writer here!

Take care of yourself Djefferis.
After the cath surgery, you know you got to work on getting healthy.

Stay focused. You've been given another chance. Same happened to my dad. After his cath surgery he started walking every day. Lost some weight and lived for another 30 years.

Take care buddy.

Nope and no. Drinking ceased basically 20 years ago and no drug use - aside from sugar.

Thanks for the thoughts / as you know there is a plan for all of us and simply our choice to seek him out as that plan plays out.

It’s funny - I play here and think about the person who introduced me to gambling 30+ years ago - he passed around age 54 - never took care of himself and it caught up quickly. I saw the warning signs but thought I was special I guess. Looking back I see a lot of parallels in life events and lifestyle. This is why I say heed my warnings and make changes while you can - it can happen quick.

What’s your height and weight just curious, if you don’t want to answer that then I would understand, but don’t fudge the numbers which I don’t think you would. You seem like a very transparent type of poster.

6’1

until recently 260ish

Today was 277 - obviously concerning adding a decent amount of weight with no dietary changes - makes me think water weight added as a result of something going on.

Like I said - I make no excuses - my diet/lifestyle sucked. Years of putting work first - fast food and eating on the road.

2 years ago made the decision to take a permanent WFH job - at first regretted it - wanted to go back to working outside - climbing around on roofs and going on the road - wasn’t much more money (actually made less) - but enjoyed the people I worked with and it was a lifestyle. Turns out may have been best move I made - what if this happened when I was somewhere on a roof or in some strange city overnighting in a motel room.

Like I said - it just freaking sucks. Sucks seeing what it does to others and sucks having to be in a hospital again in my life. Just got through a period where it feels like I was in one every week for 5 years with my parents - hoped to never see one again.

You might of lucked out by being pro active

They might have to clean some arties

Make
Some changes also
And you should be ok

Hopefully - never know though.

Luck is what you make it - just like gambling - you might get lucky - but if you do your homework your chances of needing luck are significantly reduced.

I’d prefer not to leave things to chance.
