15 players on Spain's women's soccer team threatened to quit if the head coach was not replaced because they are unhappy with the management of injuries, atmosphere in the locker room and training sessions.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) told them to go fuk themselves.

RFEF female football chief Ana Alvarez said "If we have to play with younger and less experienced players we will because the national team is above everything,"

Wake up America.

there is a due process for this. assess weather this coach is capable and check all their claims. you cannot just demand or blackmail the federation like this. woman is so demanding in general and i can smell 15 jobless woman soon.

If one organization would make a stand like this in the states, it might catch in. Every time LeBron James or Kevin Durant want a coach fired, tell them to go to hell.

This (leagues standing up to players) would never happen in US. Players will always run the show. Once it started to shift to players will all the power in the 90's and 2000's (maybe even earlier), it was over. The cat got out of the bag and there ain't no putting it back.

Spain's federation standing up for their coach and telling the players to take a hike is somewhat surprising. They may get huge pushback from fans especially once women's WC starts up again. It will be interesting to track this story.
