I got back into the them last year . I when I was a kid I would Get on my bike and throw my card box/ Album in my gym bag and truck on down to the downtown local cardshop who had barstools lined up ...had to get there early to get a seat , we would trade all morning and buy a few packs of 82 and 83 Topps and Fleer...ohhh and awweee on the hits ...next door was a Pizza Joint where we would grab a couple slices and then truck on home with our Plunder.
Now I go on Ebay, or Whatnot and spend my money on Jordans/ kobes/ lebrons/ Bradys/ Herberts/ Burrows ETC
Anyone else get the Second wave of the Card Collecting Itch here???

I used to collect and a bunch from years of collecting. I wasn't really doing as a collect but as a fan of the players. One of these days and going to examine them and send them to professional grader. I think they do the same grading w/ cards as they do with comics.

Yes

Big time

I usually get it in on prospects years early when they’re first Bowman Chrome card drops

Probably made a few grand off Noelvi Marte

Lots of buying and selling, also like buying packs and ripping them

Mostly Panini basketball and Bowman Premium baseball or chrome

I do Football did a ton of Basketball during Mello craze hahah .
My parents would buy me 4 or 5 boxes of cards for Christmas and I was 11 or 12 during the Lebron draft

Pulled 3 LeBron Bowman chrome rookies, got 2 of them graded and hit 9s on both a few years ago. Sold them for around 4k total.

I got lucky on 9s as the quality of cards in that era wasn’t as good but they sat in a safe with sleeves and hard protectors obviously for years and years

In the late 80's through to 1999 , i would buy sets of baseball , NFL and hockey. In 93 i spent 4 months living at The Downtown Athletic Club in lower Manhattan, while i worked on a merger between Patriot and Freedom Brokerage of Canada. It was a ghost town on the weekends , so i would travel uptown, and to Jersey, going through card shops. Still have them all in storage boxes in the basement.

If you buy a box of cards and open a few years later, do you toss away the cards that have little or no value? Or do you keep all them?

1996 upper deck spx Basketball

Was in a small mall and a sports store had them on the counter $5 per pack

I almost bought some but passed

After that stopped by sports card store down the road

They didn't have them, and suddenly I got the urge to go back and buy some of those packs

I was with girlfriend at the time, and she didn't really want to go back

But I kind of insisted

Bought 4 packs right off the top of brand new box, opened when I got to car, and pulled a Michael Jordan autograph redemption AND a Penny Hardaway

Easily my best pulls ever

At the time, the Jordan was going for $3-$5,000 & the Hardaway $500-$1,000
