Nah they #1 when healthy
As a Niners fan I'm a little concerned about my team. They're good there's no doubt about that but they didn't create any pressure on Kirk Cousins last night and that's been a theme in their games this year. It just hasn't shown up until the last two weeks because their offense had been able to score 30+ points every week and the defense didn't have to be perfect. The last two weeks with the offense being banged up they've only managed 17 points so that's a little concerning but I hope that when they get healthy they'll return to lighting up the scoreboard. They have a tough game against the Bengals next week and then a much needed bye. The bye hopefully gets them turned around and they figure some things out on defense.

Exactly. The defense to me was a huge disappointment last night.

Two Comments on the list:

  1. I'd like to think the Lions a$$-whooping was a one off. That team's performance will be dependent upon how well Goff plays.

  2. Cowboys still don't impress me. Dak is a sore spot. Tough to see them as top 5 team with him under center.

  3. Jags are rated too high on this list. They have the good win over Buffalo but their other wins are against opponents haven't been too stout. They have @PIT, 49ers, @HOU in next 4 weeks. That series of games will tell us if they are top 5 team and can get past wild card round in playoffs.

I agree with the Ravens moving up the charts and can see them as the second best team in the AFC behind the Chiefs. I used to think it was Buffalo but they're scuffling right now and I'm not sold on Josh Allen being the guy. The Ravens have a strong running game and defense which is what you need to succeed in the playoffs. Plus Lamar is playing excellent right now so they'll be tough for whoever they play in the AFC.

1. I generally agree. Think they'll bounce back this week. They're a well-rounded team and Goff has been solid.

2. Dak isn't anything special, but he's above-average. And they have a very good team around him; solid on both lines, pretty good skill position guys, great defense for the most part

3. Will be an interesting test. But who else would you put above them right now?

It was a bad game for sure. The lack of pressure was concerning

But the game ultimately swung on one play. Kirk Cousins threw an interception at the end of the first half that the defender somehow let go and it turned into a touch down.

Cousins woulda had under 300 yards, and 2 picks on 45 attempts if they play ended properly. 49ers very likely win the game if that play goes any other way

As bad as it was, they probably should have won

I agree I actually thought he intercepted the pass at first because I was at work and trying to do my job while keeping an eye on the game. That play changed the game and probably did make the difference between winning and losing. Still though it's not good that the Niners got no pressure on Cousins all night. They have to fix that going forward or else more teams will carve up their secondary.

Regarding Jacksonville....

I have doubted them every week going back to the beginning of LAST season, and they keep proving me wrong

Somehow they get it done
They’re a good football team with experience now

People forget they won a playoff game last year and were competitive in the Divisional Round in Arrowhead

Pretty complete football team, and probably the third best team in the AFC right now
