It was another fun weekend for sports bettors (especially if you won). We look back at some of the events that shaped the weekend. The NBA and NASCAR had a couple of dustups that grabbed people’s attention. From a pure wagering perspective, we have news about the Miami Marlins and the Lakers’ Anthony Davis you will be interested in. This along with several other tidbits.
About Last Weekend…
NBA
Everyone wants to talk about Jimmy Butler and he’s been great but what about Devin Booker of the Suns? In his last two games, he’s scored 83 points while shooting 34 of 43, which is otherworldly 79%. Denver has no answer for him and Kevin Durant either. One of the Nuggets’ strengths coming into the series was their superior bench, but all of a sudden Coach Mike Malone does not trust anyone not starting and last night the Suns had a 40-11 edge in bench points. Denver’s in trouble at the moment.
I think we now know the key to Philadelphia beating Boston in this series, James Harden. He was brilliant on Sunday and Game 1 and the Sixers won. The Beard was not good in the other two contests and Philly lost.
NHL
Talk about home cooking! Seattle and New Jersey returned how and opened up a can of ESPN’s Rece Davis “behind the shed Whup A _ _” and destroyed Dallas and Carolina respectively.Usually, the team that scores first in a playoff game wins more often than not. In the Florida/Boston series, the team that scored first won each time. However, the Panthers have fallen behind in each tussle with Toronto, yet, they are up 3-0 over the Maple Leafs and go for the sweep on Wednesday as the 8th seed.
Florida’s forechecking is beyond comprehension and their ability to get the puck deep near the other team’s goal and then convert makes them look like No. 1 overall seed.
MLB
Oakland won their first series of the year beating Kansas City. That is pretty awful by the Royals and so is K.C. having an impossible-to-comprehend 3-16 home record. After losing a home series to the lowly Rockies (who at the moment are not playing poorly), the New York Mets are 0-4-1 in their last five series and are 17-18. For the owner of the million Steve Cohen shelled out, he’s getting no return on his investment. Do you want to know the biggest reason why this is? The Mets are 28th in walks allowed and home runs surrendered as a staff. Only the A’s and White Sox are worse in those categories.
So much for Pittsburgh’s amazing start, now on a seven-game losing streak. The Pirates have scored nine total runs in this stretch with a mere 39 hits.
Trendy Talk

What to Watch For and Win (Hopefully)
NBA
The Knicks and Warriors look to avoid being 3-1 in their series and needing a road win. On Tuesday we have two series that are 2-2 and the winner of Game 5 is in an advantageous position. Review our breakdowns for your NBA picks.MLB
Time to start another week of action on the diamond and there are two excellent series, the Rays vs. Orioles and Dodgers vs. Brewers, and we will offer all sorts of free MLB picks.NHL
Edmonton looks to take the series lead on home ice over Vegas Monday. For Tuesday, Dallas and Carolina look to overcome Game 3 road thrashings and come out on top. What do our experts think about these contests for your NHL picks? Keep reading. The Buzz
NBA – Is the Joker in Trouble For Game 5?
You probably saw Nikola Jokic going for the ball in the stands and for whatever reason, the Suns' principal owner would not give him the ball and a sort of shove ensued. Now if you are a Phoenix fan, this is the view you saw from a different angle and you think he should be suspended.
The Denver coach made his feelings known also.
NASCAR – The Action Is Heating Up
While NASCAR has lost its panache of a few years ago, there are still some fellas fired up about what happens on the track.NFL – Schedule Delay?
Though the NFL has not put out a definite date for the 2023 schedule, somebody from their office, supposedly, had leaked this Thursday, May 11 for a release. That is in question for the moment, here is why.Top Betting System
Stanley Cup - Golden Knights vs. Oilers (-175)
Play On a favorite like Edmonton against the money line allowing 2.85+ goals a game in the half of the season, after scoring four goals or more in five straight games. Teams like the Oilers are 34-10 SU, making them a solid-looking play for Game 3 of the series tonight.Out the Door
MLB - Betting the Miami Marlins
Miami beat the Cubs 5-4 in 14 innings to salvage a game at Wrigley Sunday. That took the Marlins to 11-0 in one-run outcomes. In Miami’s other 23 games, they are a lousy 5-18, losing by 2.4 RPG. So, if you think the Fish will lose, take the other team on the RL.NBA – Lakers Anthony Davis Not Getting Any Love Tonight
Here is Anthony Davis scoring in the postseason in order:- 22
- 13
- 31
- 12
- 31
- 16
- 30
- 11
- 25 (last game)
Guess which way bettors are backing A.D.? Hint, Davis's point total has fallen from 25.5 to 24.5.
