NBA Reports Refs missed 7 calls in Lakers-Mavs Final 2 Minutes

espn

A non-call on LeBron James' potential game winner in the first overtime period was one of seven incorrect calls in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter and the two overtimes during Thursday night's game between the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers, according to the NBA's Last Two Minute Report released Friday.

James' shot attempt came with the score tied and 2.9 seconds left in the first overtime. According to the report, Mavs forward Christian Wood "initiated contact to James' left arm before blocking the shot" and the illegal contact affected James' shot attempt.

After the block, according to the report, officials also should have whistled Luka Doncic for a loose ball foul for contacting Wenyen Gabriel's arm.

The Mavericks went on to win 119-115 in double overtime.

The non-call that the Lakers were most upset about after Thursday's game -- Lakers guard Troy Brown Jr.'s shot at the end of regulation, when Tim Hardaway Jr. made contact with the ball and Brown's shooting hand -- was deemed correct by the league's report.

According to the report, Hardaway "legally contested" Brown's shot attempt and made contact with the ball. The report also said any "high-five" contact was considered incidental.

Damn I haven’t even began to follow or watch this garbage league since the start. I probably have 2-3 bets total & those were quarter bets or live. This product & these players are not attractive to me during football season especially during the playoffs.

SEVEN missed calls in the last 2 minutes

This isn't the only reason of course

Meaningless free throws in the last minute usually decide games as well
This is why I stopped betting basketball, especially college. Lost too many times team taking and missing 3pts when down by 1pt and the keep fouling the other team. Final score they lose by 6-7 pts.

Yeah it’s the worst sport to bet on IMO, I can barely watch it as a fan regarding my own team the Miami Heat.

So, where I used to work at, if you messed up that many times, you were disciplined (letter in your file). Do it again and you received no raise/bonus for the year. Do it a 3rd time, you're out the door.

I would like to see NBA implement something similar. Turn over the ref population until your get some that can do their job right.

I'd do the same for MLB umpires. There are so many that suck its incredible.

Tanko what line of work did you do prior to becoming a professional gambler lol. If you don’t wanna answer that, I would understand.

I was Venditto's worst nightmare... I worked for "The Man" in a huge company.
I was/am an Engineer and made my way up the food chain.

Now I just consult and serve as a slum-lord.

The Prof Gambler shot was funny (and correct). (y)

+1 Tank. This should be always the case. Every action should have a consequent responsibility, good or bad, warning and rewards.

There are A LOT of smart guys/gals on this site, way smarter than me.
They keep pumping out winners while I'm pounding my head against the wall.
From what I’ve seen in my experience & I may be wrong not stating a fact. The smarter guys have a harder time making money in this industry, because they are too heavy on numbers & logic.

I can be that guy too, although I like to bet contrarian as well. It’s all about timing that methodology.

100% Agree.... I pound numbers for plays. That is all I used to make plays on --> Stats/spreadsheet output. Long-term, it was a break even endeavor.

Over the years, you learn there is more to it. So now I run numbers for a list of potential plays and go through those looking for less tangible stuff (momentum, injury impacts, trends, steam, etc..) and try to get the best plays out of that bunch. This improved performance but not exactly printing money from it.

Over time as you revamp your style of betting, this methodology will suit you better as the years go by. I see good & positive things from you moving forward.
