Can't believe the Diamondbacks were +120 in this game. They had lost their previous 2 games in this series and this was the last game of the series so I could see them being pretty focused.

Add in the fact that the Astros have lost the last 4 games Verlander started along with 3-7 of his last 10 starts.

If he’s smart he does.

Call it a career - give it a year or 2 and then try to pull a Roger Clemens if you can and “unretire” if your arm can take it and go to a contender.

Jim Palmer tried it - but arm just wasn’t there and made mistake of coming out back in spring vs in mid August where the playoff contenders are known and you can pick and choose a landing spot of a team with a need for an arm.

He had a good career - no need to get greedy and try to squeeze a few more million for your agent out of it. Relax - enjoy the time away from the game and if the opportunity presents itself - sign for 40 million pro-rated somewhere in a year or so. MLBPA will support you for not taking a deep pay cut to hang on and you can skip all those meaningless first half road trips.
