Thinking of things we did as kids - that a kid today would completely not understand.

- Prank calls
- Rounding up Coke bottles to return for the deposit
- visiting arcades with quarters
- tying up the phone line with dial up and constantly getting a busy signal trying to connect (wasn’t a kid when the internet became the rage - but certainly remember it).
- class rings/school yearbooks

What else comes to mind ?

A few more:

- taping songs off radio
- call in request to a DJ
- ghetto blasters
- eating at McDonald’s was a treat - not a daily thing
- penny/nickel candy
- opening baseball cards and putting on bike spokes or saving your favorite team - not digging for special cards and paying $10 a pack
- going to a diner to eat

Calling the local bar where your dad hung out after work always classic

🤣

Makes me think of the time we had to call my dad with an emergency, I think my brother knocked his front teeth out or something, and my dad was known at the VFW by his ‘nickname’ “The *****” - and we call, asking for “Mr. ********”, and the already drunk ‘bartender’ is like “WHO?!?!”

And we reluctantly say “The *****” - and we were immediately talking to my dad…..

My town had like 4 or 5 taxi companies. We would order 3 or 4 cabs to this mean cheap neighbor (did yard work all day she gave us candy bars with ants inside no lie). Cabs would usually arrive honking 1 after another and she'd have to send them away while we watched from our home.
