In most states I believe this will not be required to be answered. It's basically a census question from the government, not an actual job app question.

The Civil Rights act will protect male pillow biters and female carpet munchers from discrimination in this area, I believe.

I'm sure you love this tidbit bateman: California protects the person from "actual or perceved" orientation, gender id, and gender expression. That means an employee is protected even if the employer gets the orientaion or id wrong.

Religious - yes, I can see it.
Professional sports teams - some - obviously it’s harder to be homosexual in say the NFL vs WNBA as evidenced by the number of athletes who are open

Even at gay oriented clubs though - they don’t ask - as they truly don’t care.

Yea - civil rights gives protections - but also allows some religious room to wiggle too..applying at the local Arab owned deli - they can’t ask - but to work in their schools for example I believe it’s allowable.

Never really understood the reasons to ask - you can be both heterosexual and yet repulsive to both sexes (as well as the laundry list of alternative genders they have dreamed up).
