JJ do they ever discuss handicapping and money management at GA to help turn losing gamblers
into winning gamblers or possible even pro/semi pro?

I tried this.

But we're dealing with a lot of patience, discipline and many, many other side issues that get in the way of even the most willing learner in the room.

Sadly, and this is true, some people are not built to do this.

The old of adage that it's only a problem if you are losing simply isn't true.

I could go on if you want, I have a wealth of knowledge and information on this topic, it is part of my life's work.

Tha saddest of all, however, is the gambling problems and risk taking problems that result from the side effects of certain medications, including Parkinson's drugs.

There's more too. I could go on and on.

"I've been gambling hereabouts
For ten good solid years.
If I told you 'bout all that went down
It would burn off both your little ears."

gamblers only remember wins
Totally forget all the losses
So true

tips from the meeting last night
I've been thinking about this a bit lately and not just about gambling.

We have a tendency to "compartmentalize" our thoughts, meaning we concentrate on the task at hand. When I have a bad weekend gambling like this past weekend, and I go to look at the lines, I think about the bad weekend only for a moment but the moment's gone and I continue reading lines.

Same thing for work. When I get up in the morning I'm dreading going to work. I think I dread it because it imposes on my free time. When I actually go to login to work I think of the tasks I will be doing and I get excited about going to work. If I could just train my mind when I wake up to think about the tasks I will be doing, maybe I won't dread going to work.

One more thing, when I cook at home there are a lot of pans and silverware to wash afterward. But when I'm doing the actual cooking I'm not thinking of the cleanup, I'm thinking of how good the food will be tasting. When I fry a hamburger I don't think of having to clean the pan, I'm thinking about how nice the burger looks to eat.

Maybe when we go to make bets in the future we can force ourselves to look back and ponder a bit on our losing times and hopefully that will frame our thoughts.
