Is Big XII going to poach the 4 corner schools from PAC-12? Keep seeing articles that PAC-12 new TV negotiations are going down the drain and not even close to what they thought it would be. Also seeing SDSU & SMU to PAC-12 is close to be done deal. Whats gonna be the next big allignment in college football?

I see Big 12 going after 2 schools for sure (Az, Az St) and possibly 4 (+Wash, Oreg). Utah could be left out in the cold along with the rest of the Pac-12.

The question is does Big 12 go to 14 or 16 teams. That's a lot of dividing up of TV money.
More than 16 schools in Big12 just doesn't work well for conference alignment. I can't see that happeneing.

What's really amazing is how the Big 12 went from "Oh damn, we're screwed with Tex, OU leaving" to, "We got this. No Problem".

Soon we'll see 3 major conferences in CFB: Big 12, Big10, SEC with the ACC as trying to hold on to the status.

ACC has Clemson, Fla St, Miami but I expect Clemson + maybe 1 other to get poached at some point by SEC. That will end ACC G5 membership.

I hate all of us this poaching. I like conferences to be decided by geography and how good teams are not just about poaching teams for more money. I think it makes college sports more exciting with more big conferences not less but it looks like we are headed for 2 or 3 mega conferences.

The PAC 12 is in trouble if it can’t strike a media deal and I just heard that CBS and Turner shut them down and NBC doesn’t want them. So that leaves them with ESPN or FoX who probably doesn’t want them unless they can be bought for very cheap. No one really watches the PAC 12 enough which is an issue and the primary reason for that is the games are on so late. Now they have to deal with not having the La market and it might only be a matter of time before they don’t have the California market and the Pacific Northwest market dwindles when Cal, Stanford, Oregon, and Washington all leave for the BIG to bring them to 20 teams.

What do you think of LA teams coming to the Big Ten?

I’m a Buckeye fan myself (I come in peace :) )

I'm not really a fan of having to watch a 10 ET game on a weekday when Michigan has to play UCLA or USC in basketball but it is exciting to have two good teams join the conference. I'd personally rather them not join though and just keep the PAC 12 in tact.

It will be interesting to see Michigan play UCLA in basketball and play USC in football and get a chance at actually beating them which USC owned Michigan when I grew up watching them play.

Oregon and Washington are out of the Pac 12 and to the Big 10 ASAP. But nobody wants them yet. None of the Pac 12 wants to break up the band yet and they don't want to join the Big 12 so they probably get a decent TV deal that they take and make a little less for five years. That will happen this summer.

The Big 10 or ACC is going to take them at some point and then Stanford and Cal probably go along with them.

The Big 12 then gets the teams they want and they probably add Washington State and Oregon State thanks to BYU and ESPN. They then probably set up rivalry games like the SEC is going to do and have a rotating schedule with a first and second championship game.

The Pac 12 is on a death march and not quite ready to lay down and die.

San Diego State and SMU probably also get in the Big 12 after getting in the Pac 12 this summer and getting a little respect. SMU is pretty good now and ready to spend big money to compete. They are going to outspend the entire Pac 12 except for Oregon. They will also outspend the Big 12. They are going to be the big winners in all this.
