In reality, it's worse to lose a game you bet on because you've actually lost money compared to liking a game but not even playing it.

But for me, I get much more angry at myself for liking a game/wager, but failing to bet on it for whatever reason, and it ends up winning.

The opposite also happened to me once: I wanted to bet on the road team in a soccer match, the road team was ahead until the last minute when the home team scored to tie it with a very lucky/dumb goal, so I lost the bet. But when I logged in again I found out that I actually bet the draw by mistake and won. It probably happened because the draw and road win had the exact same odds so I didn't notice the wrong click.

I think what's worse probably also depends on the odds. Thinking about placing a bet on a huge underdog, but then not doing it for some reason and then seeing it win can hurt pretty badly. But in general for me it's worse to loose a bet if find out that I missed some key information (like not knowing that some important players are not playing).
