Because you want to win more if you're winning and you want to recover your losing bet when you lose.

As long as you enjoy and still not falling into gambling addiction then you're fine. Just don't forget to visit the "18+ Gamble Responsibility" located below this page if you're having a problem.

Because it can become an addiction, dog. Healthy boundaries, eat right and exercise, have a good social support structure, stick ur wiener in things to relieve the anxiety. If that don't work, drugs, death or rehab. Idk man. Climbing mountains and hoops a couple times a week works for me

Is that you in your avatar, Hustledouble? I see that you love hiking. A very refreshing view.

Yep that's me. Photo a bit older now. My first summit above 8,000 feet. Wife got me into hiking years back and it's done wonders for my mental health and self-control. Everybody has something that works. Just keep at it IMO !
What a great experience. You can still do hiking but just try not to take the risk of 8k feet anymore.

Amen to the last line. Even a simple walk in the morning/afternoon can already make a change.

I'm not going to say I can't relate because I understand the struggle and how all too real it is.

But I have to say I've gotten past any of these issues of problem gambling, and it can take some mental work to do so. I am as close to an expert on the psychology of gambling as there can be.

I can walk through a casino for hours with money in my pocket and not play a single thing. It's like I view the EV as so bad I don't touch it.

That said, I've noticed that if I'm posting plays, which I like to only do if I am tracking, I tend to want to post more plays, or look for more plays, than I would normally play. It's a little Forum psychology thing, I suppose.

For example, I'm tracking a specific type of golf strategy in the golf threads but I want to throw out some tourney winners, matchups, and even some Top 10's that aren't in the same strategy and I'm not sure I want to track.

Making a thread for plays, tracking and all, can lead us to force plays, I guess that's what I'm trying to say.

Gold doing a great job in his big play thread of not forcing. Sometimes I want to force for the sake of the Forum.

That goes back to the SBR days for me as well.

It's just another thing that attacks our patience and discipline, two of the most important aspects of sports betting and gambling in general that we have no hope of winning or losing slower without them.

Great post KVB.

I will say that having a healthy relationship with how you engage with other gamblers online is important too. SBR became a really toxic place for me, and I stopped engaging with anyone in the sports betting space online for a lot of years for that reason.

This forum so far seems well-managed, well moderated and comprised of a lot of the posters from over there who I thought brought value and less crazy and I really value that and enjoy it here.

We underestimate how sneaky little things people say/do can get into our heads if we're not careful. I've enjoyed seeing all the positive contributions so many people are making over here. I hope it stays that way
