Wow. I bet they were giving tickets away to get butts in the seats.
That is crazy.

Correct

Same area

Makes no sense

But they will find out the hard way it's not going matter

They are basically building a neighborhood with lots of cool stuff to attract ppl

Not gonna work in my opinion
They need to have dollar beer nights on M, T, W, Th.... That'll draw a crowd.
They do that at MiLB parks. It draws huge crowds.

At the MiLB park we go to, some people get in line for 2 beers (max allowed per person) and then go back to the end of the line and drink them while they wait to get back to the front of the line and get two more. This cycle continues until they get a cheap drunk and leave or they are cut off.

also for instance i have youtube.tv and im an hour from tampa. they dont have the rays games on here. their is a dispute with ballys sports and some providers ect. so i bought mlb.tv but they blacked out local games rays and marlins. i havent watched a rays game all year and those are my favorite 2 announcers of all time

a lot of ppl around tampa cant get the games which is absurb, americas pasttime

heres a little piece from reddit about it

Bally Sports

I just read a few articles about their bankruptcy and that might not be good for the Rays. From what I read they are looking to reduce the amount they have to pay each team for the rights to broadcast the games.
Now if I remember correctly, the Rays were already locked into a low contract, but they were expecting to get a higher contract on the next negotiations. Also, if I remember correctly, the Rays actually have good ratings.
To me, this is important since the media market makes a huge difference for the team, especially with the stadium in an undesirable place. But I've heard that Bally is very difficult to get in certain places (I'm out of the region, so I usually buy the MLB league pass.)
Anyone else heard anything more on this?

Oh they do tank and probably have offered more types of promos than any other team

Boils down to St Pete fans are lazy, cheap, or just not that big of fans, and Tampa area fans don't want to make the drive, but city of Tampa was too cheap to make a new stadium happen

I think 50% of attendance at games aren't even locals, it's ppl who drive a good distance

The fans and media have ragged Rays owner
Stuart Sternberg for years every time he threatened to move the team because of poor attendance

But that man has been far more than fair and patient in giving it chance after chance after chance

He should have told St Pete and Tampa fans FU I'm done and took his business elsewhere

That is sad state of affairs.
Do people turn out for the Buccaneers and Lightning? Those stadiums seem packed when they are on TV and those teams have been decent in recent times.

For MLB.TV. I had the same issue with MLB blacking out Houston and Texas games. If you use a VPN, you can watch Rays games.

Oh yeah no problem with people filling the buccaneers and lightning games

I think the lightning might have the longest streak of sellouts in the NHL or at least they are up there
