Premiership fixtures come in thick and fast at this time of year and fans can look forward to several intriguing clashes taking place throughout this week. Squads are rotated, fatigue is an issue and shock results are to be expected, but there is still plenty of value to be had at green-listed bookmakers for punters. Here are a few tips for the biggest midweek matches:
Swansea v Tottenham
Carlos Carvalhal became Swansea’s fourth manager in less than a year when he took over from Paul Clement last week. He made a winning start to life in south Wales as his team earned a smash and grab 2-1 win away at Watford to move off the foot of the table. However, he faces an extremely daunting task in his second game in charge. The schedule allowed Tottenham a rest at the weekend and they will be refreshed and ready to take Swansea apart on Tuesday. Spurs won 3-1 here last season and have not lost to Swansea since 1991. They will be full of confidence after thrashing Southampton 5-2 last time out and should have more than enough quality to win this one. Tottenham -1.25 Asian handicap looks good at 3/4 with Marathon Bet, or push it to -1.5 Asian handicap to get 39/40 with Bet Victor. Harry Kane to score at any time also looks like a great option at 8/13 with Coral, Sky Bet and various others as he is in phenomenal form.
Man City v Watford
Pep Guardiola’s men dropped points for the first time since August when they were held to a 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park on Sunday. It could have been far worse for the league leaders as Crystal Palace were awarded a penalty in injury time, but Ederson saved. It was still a bruising afternoon, with Kevin De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus suffering injuries, but City’s unbeaten record remains intact and they should have a far easier time against Watford in midweek. The Hornets lost 2-1 to Swansea last time out and are in freefall, having lost five of their last six games. If they are not careful they will be dragged into the relegation battle, and their defensive record is worrying for fans. Only two teams – Stoke and West Ham – have conceded more goals than Watford this season, and City should destroy them. Man City to win and over 3.5 goals is even money with Betway and that looks a great bet.
Southampton v Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace will be buoyed by that battling performance against City and they should be confident of avoiding relegation this season. Roy Hodgson has made Palace very difficult to break down and they are always a threat on the break thanks to the pace and trickery of Wilfried Zaha. But Southampton are also difficult to play against and held on for a strong draw of their own away at Old Trafford at the weekend. The draw looks good at 13/5 with 888 Sport, Stan James and Betway, as Saints have drawn eight games already this season and Palace, have drawn seven. It does not seem like a high-scoring game in prospect, so under 2.5 goals looks interesting too at 93/100 with Marathon Bet.
Arsenal v Chelsea
The Gunners are trailing Chelsea in the league table but they have a strong record against Antonio Conte’s men in recent times. They comprehensively outplayed the
Blues to win the FA Cup final in May and then beat them again to the Community Shield at the start of the current campaign. They earned a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge in the league in September and beat them 3-0 at The Emirates last season. That might tempt some to back a home win in this game and the odds are attractive: you can get 6/4 with William Hill and various other Green Listed Bookmakers on an Arsenal victory against Chelsea. However, a better bet might be both teams to score and over 2.5 goals at 20/23 with Coral. Chelsea are great going forwards at present and put five past Stoke at the weekend, while Arsenal are shaky at the back but always excellent in attack.
