The Austrian bookmaker is in talks with Premiere, the German pay-tv operator, to acquire a 25 per cent stake in Premiere Win, a channel that broadcasts about eight hours a day of horse racing and offers betting on horses and the lottery.
In 2005, Premiere Win reported a betting turnover of about EUR 10 million, with 30,000 registered users. The betting channel expects to break even by the end of 2006.
“Talks are being held with Premiere,” said BetandWin spokesman Konrad Sveceny. “Whether a stake will be acquired and of what size one cannot say.”
Premiere has confirmed to have filed a request with German and Austrian regulators for permission to sell part of Premiere Win to the Austrian bookmaker.
