The betting exchange has held “formative talks” with English football\’s governing body with regard to betting patterns prior to the appointment of Harry Redknapp as Portsmouth manager.
More than £16.5million was traded on the exchange and a Betfair\’s spokesman said they are happy to open their books if the FA decides to launch an investigation into the matter.
A spokesman for the FA confirmed to be aware of the volume of betting on Harry Redknapp and to be monitoring the situation.
Betfair holds a memorandum of understanding with the Football Association that ensures they would share information over suspicious betting patterns with the sport\’s governing body.
In separate news, the Hong Kong Jockey Club has imposed a five minute delay on pictures shown in Britain from Sunday morning’s international meeting in Hong Kong.
The HKJC has sold the TV rights for showing the four main races on At The Races, but if fears the impact of the betting exchange would damage the local betting pools.
“We don’t want to build up liquidity in the market on the betting exchanges,” said Racing Director Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges.
The time lapse should be a sufficient condition to prevent Honk Kong betting pools from being seriously damaged.
