An England victory in the 2006 World Cup will cost UK bookmakers as much as 20 million pounds, says a spokesman for William Hill.

Following England\’s late win against Argentina, Hills have slashed England\’s odds to 7/1 making them third favourites to win the World Cup.

But Hills expect England to be knocked out at the Quarter Final stage as usual and offer 9/4 that that will be the outcome of their campaign.

Hills also offer 7/2 that they will be eliminated at the Group Stage; 3/1 that they go out at the Second Phase; 9/2 that they lose in the Semi Final; 9/1 in the Final.

First favourite to lift the trophy remains Brasil at 11/4.
