The 2017-18 campaign will be the 55th season of the German Bundesliga. The new season will officially kick-off on 18 August and it will finish on 12 May 2018 with the winter break between 18 December and 12 January. The reigning champions, Bayern Munich will traditionally start the season on Friday.

Last season, Bayern Munich won their 26th Bundesliga title with three games to go till the end of the season, becoming the first team to win 5 years in a row. Captain Philipp Lahm and midfield Xabi Alonso have retired from the football world, meaning that the Bavarian club needs to sign some important players for the next season. Their main target Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez is unlikely to join them so they should look elsewhere. Next year Bayern should concentrate not only on winning the Bundesliga but having a better campaign in the Champions League.

Ingolstadt and Darmstadt are the two teams relegated from the German Bundesliga with Wolfsburg winning the relegation/promotion play-offs against Eintracht Braunschweig. Stuttgart relegated for second time in their history last season, but they are back in Bundesliga after just one year. Hannover are the 2nd team promoted in the top league but it will be tough for them to maintain their Bundesliga spot for more than one season. Bayern Munich, Leipzig, Dortmund and Hoffenheim are the four Bundesliga teams qualified in the Champions League. The top teams are trying to make the best of the summer transfer window and sign the best available players on the market. Most important news so far: Dortmund might lose their top scorer star Aubameyang and their captain Marco Reus will be out till 2018 after having an operation to correct his damaged knee ligament. After sacking Thomas Tuchel, the specials are saying that Dortmund can become a real threat to Bayern Munich under new coach Peter Bosz. For that to happen they really need to be very active on the transfer market. Domenico Tedesco has been named Schalke’s coach having a tough task to refresh the team in the next season. Bayern Munich appointed former star Willy Sagnol as Ancelotti’s assistant and confirmed the transfer of Werder Bremen’s Serge Gnabry.

We have a lot of markets to choose from. Bayern Munich to win another title is out of the question as they are priced at 1.2 with Betfair and other green listed bookmakers. We are offered a great market – Betting on the winner without Bayern to be on the list. We expect Dortmund to have a great season and not to repeat last year’s poor campaign. They are priced at 1.83 to win the title W/O Bayern Munich. Leipzig and Hoffenheim were the surprise teams of the last season. Will they be able to continue on the same path? Julian Nagelsmann has signed a new four-year deal with Hoffenheim and we believe that this is the best transfer for the club this summer. We expect Hoffenheim to finish next season in top 4 and this bet is priced at 2.25. Leipzig sporting director declared for the media that they are not thinking of selling players this summers plus they have a transfer budget of 45m euros being active on the transfer market. But if a major club comes with a great offer for their star player Emil Forsberg we expect Hoffenheim to sell him this summer.

Best picks:

Dortmund to win (W/O Bayern Munich) at 1.83 with Betfair

Hoffenheim to finish in top 4 at 2.25 with 10Bet

Mainz to be relegated at 2.4 with Bet365
