In an interview with The Prague Post, Katerina Luisa Danhelova, general director of Synot Holding, said the Finance Ministry should liberalize the market and allow Czech betting offices to offer internet betting.
Despite being illegal, foreign gambling companies promote internet betting in the Czech Republic with continued investments into advertising and marketing.
Danhelova said a change in the law should end illegal practices, including advertising for these services, or liberalize the market allowing Czech companies to offer betting services over the internet to their clients.
The gambling industry, with a 8.5 per cent increase to $3.4bn over a year earlier, is one of the few sectors of the Czech economy that can count on constant growth. The Czech Republic ranks fourth in Europe in terms of the volume of people\’s expenditures on gambling.
