DCMS to arbitrate levy dispute

After the British bookmakers failed to reach an agreement with the racing industry over the amount they should contribute to racing, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport will step in to finalize the details of the 47th levy scheme to start in April 2008. Negotiations failed after William Hill and Ladbrokes among others asked for a £50 million reduction necessary to cover the costs of installing Turf TV in their betting shops in the UK.
