Artificial intelligence is king at the sparkling new Otonomus Hotel, located just minutes off the Las Vegas Strip, in Nevada. If successful, it could be the first of many such hotels worldwide.
Digital Profile
Although not everyone wants to leave a digital footprint, especially in Las Vegas, many would welcome a hotel experience that caters to their every need based on their digital profile. Such is the case with the new Otonomus Hotel, a $160 million, 300-plus suite development that integrates AI into virtually every aspect of the customer’s stay.
Because the Otonomus Hotel is not on the Strip, the land was not only cheaper to buy, but any labor required does not have to be union-affiliated which further reduces costs. The new high-tech hotel costs approximately $325 per night and is approximately four miles southwest of the Las Vegas Strip, located on Russell Road.
AI-Powered Guest Experience
There is no check-in desk as everything is done via the KEE app through one’s mobile device. Magnetic doors allow the rooms to connect and reconfigure based on square footage requests. A playful and engaging Q&A session allows customers to share their preferences with an AI-powered booking engine named FIRO that optimizes dynamic room allocations and controls the booking process.
If customers consent, the AI-powered accommodations wizard will scan social media profiles to get a better understanding of what amenities and choices will facilitate the most comfortable and familiar stay possible. It could be a bit too familiar for some guests, but the AI-powered hotel is all about a stay tailored to one’s specific needs.
“AI will go and scrape the entire web—every piece of information we have on you, every social media post, every communication—and create your unique digital avatar, a digital twin of you,” said hotel founder Philippe Ziade.
Airbnb Hotel Style
The concept for the Otonomus Hotel was ripped from the Airbnb playbook. Las Vegas-based entrepreneur Philippe Ziade, founder and CEO of Otonomus, believes this is the next-generation hotel model. It is scheduled for a soft opening this month before the official launch scheduled sometime in May.
AI-Driven Personalization
Although the room temperature and light settings, to name just a few preferences, will be predicated on what the customer answers in their profile, their habits during their stay will ultimately determine where those settings adjust.
Thus, if a customer answers that they want the room at 70 degrees but finds that temperature a bit warm and sets it at 68, the AI engine will detect the modification and will note it for the next time the customer books the room. The same with the light settings, time of day that the shades open or close, etc.
“It will adapt to you,” Ziade added. “So, the first time you stay with us, and the next time you return, the temperature, lighting, and even your wake-up time will remain the same based on your preferences.”
Dining and Amenities
The hotel will feature a Lebanese restaurant by Top Chef winner Charbel Hayek in addition to a “contemporary American Italian establishment” and a speakeasy-inspired cocktail lounge. There will also be retail shops, two swimming pools, and a rooftop lounge.
