As Betfair virtually guaranteed itself a Tasmanian license allowing it to advertise nationally, the two bookmakers based in the Northern territory were prosecuted for illegally advertising in New South Wales.

Peter V\’Landys, Racing NSW Chief Executive, said the successful prosecution by the NSW Government would be a warning to all unlicensed corporate bookmakers.

Sportingbet has been prosecuted for advertising in a magazine promoting the Gosford Gold Cup, while IASbet published NSW harness racing fields without the club\’s consent.
