IPL 2017: The Last Group Stage Matches

All to play for heading into the final weekend of group stage matches ahead of the Play offs.

All prices are Ladbrokes.

Saturday 13th May

Gujarat Lions v Sunrisers Hyderabad

Whilst Gujarat are out of the competition, never having overcome the worst bowling attack in the competition, it is all to play for the defending champions. With KXIP breathing down their necks Sunrisers are very likely to need to win here.

Sunrisers have lost two of their last three games, against Delhi and Pune before rebounding with a crucial win against Mumbai. They have been very reliant on captain David Warner, the top run scorer in IPL2017 but really should have enough through their batting line-up to win this and then await other results.

Sunrisers are8/11 here and Gujarat 13/10.8/11 is no more than fair value, the price is discounting the circumstances of the game. Check also lines available of William Hill for this match.

KKR v Mumbai Indians

This is a heavyweight clash for the final group game for each of these two sides. Mumbai have qualified and go into the last round of games top of the table. They conceded 230 to KXIP last time out.

KKR lost to KXIP to leave their participation in the last four in the balance. They are modest favourites at home (10/11 v evens for Mumbai) where a sometimes slow track helps their bowling attack and the top four in their batting attack (Lynn back from injury and Narine pinch hitting ahead of established openers Gambhir and Uthappa ) has flayed all the bowling attacks in this competition

However Mumbai are probably the strongest all round tea in this tournament and will want to secure a top two place for the first round of the play-offs as it gives them a route potentially straight through to the final. I think the odds against on offer with Ladbrokes here about Mumbai is quite appealing

Sunday 14th May

Rising Pune Supergiants v Kings XI Punjab

Writing before Pune’s game on Friday where Pune reach the playoffs with a win against the Delhi Daredevils. Win or lose their position in the top 4 will rest on their result here

so plenty to play for, for a team that has come right into for with its big name players contributing consistently in the second half of the season.

KXIP needed to win their last three games to stand a chance of making the playoffs and have won the first two of those against two of the strongest teams in the competition KKR and Mumbai. The Mumbai game saw KXIP compile a massive 230 runs and hold on to win by 7 runs in the second highest scoring game in IPL history. If this game really is that the winner progresses and the loser goes out it could be a humdinger with the teams in this form.

Prices now, ahead of the Friday result are RPS 5/6 and KXIP evens. I like the 5/6 about the home side here

Delhi Daredevils v Royal Challengers Bangalore

A dead rubber to end the group stages, as neither team can make the play offs. Te two teams have combined for only 7 wins in 25 combined games. RCB especially have been the big disappointment of IPL2017 with a team containing Gayle, DeVilliers and Kohli at the bottom of the table and with batting collapse after batting collapse.

Delhi’s young batting line up came good unexpected last game chasing down 195 to beat Gujarat in a high scoring game in Kanpur.

This isn’t a game for big stakes and the game is priced at 10/11 each of two. It would be just like RCB to perform for their frustrated performers in essentially an exhibition game but no bet here for me. You can go ahead and compare for the best available prices in our green listed bookmakers.
