The Manx government has officially cleared the way for Island-based online betting companies to accept bets from the United States.

A jointly statement issued by Treasury and the Department of Trade and Industry confirmed that the Isle of Man will now be actively marketed as a jurisdiction which does not place any restrictions on companies accepting bets from punters in the US.

Based on the Island\’s Online Gambling Regulations Act of 2001, license holders have always been free to accept bets from any jurisdiction, US included. However, it was widely believed within the online betting industry that the Manx government prevented Island-based companies from accepting US bets.

Island-based commentators are hopeful that the official lifting of the ban on US bets will ensure that the Isle of Man remains at the forefront of competitive jurisdictions, while attracting online betting companies to set up operations into the Island.
