As anticipated by Bookmakers Review in January, the AAMS (Amministrazione Autonoma dei Monopoli di Stato), in accord with a norm introduced with the Finance Act 2006, will deny access to the Italian telecommunications and internet networks for all the foreign betting services providers, which are not in possession of an Italian concession.

The European Betting Association and other well established Community operators from Germany, Scandinavia and the UK active on the Italian market, have filed a complaint to the EU Commission on the legitimacy of the measure.

The Ministry of Economy notified the national telecommunications and internet providers a blacklist of betting operators which do not hold Italian concessions. The telecommunications and internet providers will have the duty of denying access to these betting operators.

Some operators in possession of an Italian concession, including BetandWin, Eurobet, Globet, Paradisebet and Betshop, will be temporarily excluded from the “black-out”, as they will be given more time to move their customers and bets from the .com websites to the .it sites.

Here is a complete list of the websites which will be blackened out.
