Premier League – Week 27
Saturday, March 4 – Anfield Stadium
This is one of, if not the most expected game this weekend in all of the top European leagues. Liverpool visited Leicester on Monday and they were on the wrong end of a 3-1 score-line, much to the disappointment of their fans. They are looking to bounce back and win the clash against Arsenal to maintain hopes of a top 4 finish. Arsenal enjoyed a weekend away from the EPL due to the EFL final (Manchester United vs. Southampton) so their players will be well rested ahead of this important fixture. With just two wins from their last three Premier League games, Arsenal sit in 4th place, 3 points below 2nd placed Tottenham. This in itself means that they will want to gain a positive result.
Jurgen Klopp is not happy at all with his team’s recent results, but he is taking the blame himself. Liverpool have been inconsistent all season, but their home results against the big EPL sides are solid (wins vs Tottenham and Manchester City and draws vs Chelsea and Manchester United). Arsenal are looking to avenge the reverse match when they’ve lost 4-3 at the Emirates on the opening day of the season. For both teams this match is a ‘must-win’ and they will do their best to achieve a positive result. Their hopes of winning the title are over, but a place in next year’s Champions League is still at stake.
One of Liverpool’s most important players – England International Jordan Henderson, missed Monday’s clash against Leicester with a foot injury, and he is also set to miss this fixture. Henderson is the only Premier League player to attempt more than 2000 passes this season and he has run further than any other player at 286.2 km. The Gunners are one point ahead of Liverpool, but they have one game in hand. Liverpool have the joint best attack in Premier League, together with Chelsea scoring 55 goals in 26 rounds.
We expect another thrilling match between these two teams; most likely a goal-fest with lots of opportunities created for both sides. Mesut Ozil is expected to return from his back injury and he is one of the most important players for the Gunners. It’s tough to predict a winner here, so we are looking at the goals market to find the best value for this match.
