McCreevy denies German claims

EU Internal Market Commissioner Charlie McCreevy has denied claims that the EU Commission is set to approve the German sports betting monopoly as reported by a German newspaper. The Sueddeutsche Zeitung cited the head of the state government office in Rhineland-Palatinate saying the Commission was considering the approval of the German ban of private sports betting companies until 2010. McCreevy said the Commission has not yet made a decision on the matter.
