The largest property in Las Vegas is getting a pricey makeover that will cost approximately $300 million. This will include upgrades to all rooms and adding more suites to the sprawling resort.

Invest for Success

Las Vegas, Nevada is the epicenter of glitz, glamour, and gaming in North America, which means any of the properties striving for success on the Strip must be maintained and upgraded from time to time. Apparently, that time is now for the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, as it has recently been announced that its 4,212 rooms and suites in the main tower will all be renovated.

Moreover, as part of this $300 million makeover, 111 suites in the main tower will be added, which will bring the total number of suites to 753. Bookings are already being taken for March, but the entire project is not expected to be complete until December of this year.

These new rooms and suites add to the diverse collection of remodeled accommodations available at MGM Grand, including the 700-room Studio Tower, which was completed in 2022,” according to a statement issued by the gaming company.

“These newly designed suites will feature a refined blend of dark ebony and walnut wood finishes, accentuated by lighter tones and sheer roller shades that create a brighter, more inviting atmosphere. The livable entertainment areas will include comfortable sectionals and lenticular artwork that transforms based on the viewer’s perspective,” adds MGM.

Netflix Bites, a restaurant featuring food from Netflix movies and series, will be added to the MGM Grand menu courtesy of the refurbishment, as will the addition of the Palm Tree Beach Club.

MGM Grand Cops Biggest Title

As far as rooms go, the First World Hotel in Malaysia has the distinction of being the hotel with the most rooms, 7,351 to be precise. However, the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino wins the award for the single largest individual hotel building in the world, according to the World Record Academy. The biggest combined hotels are sister venues, the Venetian and Palazzo, also located on the Strip.

The MGM Grand cost $1.1 billion to build and swung open its doors in December 1993. The gargantuan hotel is situated on a 6.6-acre plot and has 380,000 square feet of space, which makes it bigger than all the rest on the Las Vegas Strip and the world.

“(MGM Grand) has 6,852 rooms and includes five outdoor pools, rivers, and waterfalls that cover 6.6 acres (2.7 ha), a 380,000 square feet (35,000 m2) convention center, the MGM Grand Garden Arena, and the Grand Spa; it also houses numerous shops, night clubs, and restaurants and the largest casino in Clark County, which occupies 171,500 square feet (15,930 m2),” notes the Academy.

Although the MGM Grand is the biggest in Sin City, it is also surrounded by other enormous structures. An astounding 11 of the world’s top 20 largest hotels, ranked by number of rooms, are found in Las Vegas. Most notable among them are the Venetian, Wynn and Encore, Caesars Palace, and MGM’s Aria.
