As reported by the Racing Post, the professional punter at the center of a Jockey Club investigation into allegations that a gambling ring has been corrupting UK racing on an almost daily basis is refusing to co-operate with the authorities.
The refusal is a setback for the Jockey Club, which is now faced with a much more time-consuming operation to find details about the alleged gambling ring.
At the center of the investigation is the suspicion that privileged information from licensed individuals has been exploited in order to profit from betting on horses to lose on betting exchanges.
One Betfair\’s account linked to Mr X showed more than 2,600 transactions over the course of a year with a near faultless record when laying horses.
