In a trading statement to the market, the Rank Group reported a “muted performance” in its gaming division for the year to date, blaming the weak margins in sports betting at Blue Square. Profit for the online bookmaker is running behind last year despite strong revenue and customer growth over the period.
Commenting on the new Gambling Act which became law on April 7, Rank believes it will provide significant opportunities for the Group\’s gaming businesses, although there remains uncertainty regarding the exact timing.
