However, the Swedish online betting company said it remained confident about poker, which accounts for around 30 per cent of the firm\’s turnover, as its operations are different from those at PartyGaming.
“PartyGaming is mainly present in the American market. We have no presence in the US and are mainly in Europe,” Unibet Chief Executive Petter Nylander told Reuters.
“The global market, which mainly means the US, stood still in the second quarter while we grew 18 per cent compared with the first quarter. We experienced no stagnation,” he added.
Nylander expects internet poker to develop faster in Europe than the US due to the fact that state monopolies in several European countries do not allow competition in sports betting.
