There have been some changes in the online gambling market in New Jersey. Stardust Casino has been relaunched under Boyd Gaming, while Pala Casino is no longer operating.
Boyd Gaming used to work with Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, and FanDuel introduced the well-known Stardust brand to online casinos in New Jersey in 2021. They replaced Betfair in the process. The Stardust online casino was operating and generating revenue under the license of Golden Nugget Atlantic City.
Based in Las Vegas, Boyd bought Pala Interactive for $170 million in November 2022. The new Stardust online casino will now operate and generate revenue under Borgata’s license in New Jersey.
Stardust Online Casino “Relaunches” in New Jersey
After two years, Boyd and FanDuel are relaunching Stardust in New Jersey, allowing players to enjoy online casino gaming once again.
FanDuel Casino will continue operating and offering online gambling services in New Jersey. They recently took control of the previous Stardust online accounts in early March. Pala’s users and their account information have been transferred to the new Stardust Casino NJ platform.
So, the main point is that online gamblers in New Jersey can still access and play at Stardust Casino NJ.
Online Casino Keeps The Memory of The Stardust Resort Alive
The online casino will also help to keep the memory of the Stardust Resort alive. Stardust was located in Las Vegas and became a renowned hotel and casino that operated from 1958 to 2006. It was originally built by Tony Cornero, a prominent bootlegger and gambling operator. However, Cornero passed away before the resort’s completion, and his associates took over the project.
The Stardust Resort officially opened its doors on July 2, 1958. It quickly gained popularity and became known for its luxurious accommodations, vibrant atmosphere, and top-notch entertainment. The resort featured a large casino floor with a wide range of table games and slot machines, along with various dining options, bars, and a showroom for live performances.
Over the years, Stardust went through several expansions and renovations to keep up with the evolving Las Vegas scene. It introduced various iconic features, such as the iconic “Lido de Paris” show, which featured topless dancers and became one of the longest-running productions in Las Vegas history.
The Fall of the Iconic Resort
In the 1990s, Stardust faced increasing competition from newer and more extravagant resorts on the Las Vegas Strip. Despite efforts to modernize and update the property, it struggled to keep up with the changing tastes of visitors. Eventually, the decision was made to close the Stardust Resort.
On November 1, 2006, the Stardust Resort and Casino ended its operations with a grand farewell ceremony. The iconic resort was imploded to make way for a new development, which later became the site of the Echelon Place project. Though Stardust is no longer standing, its legacy remains in the history of Las Vegas and the fond memories of those who experienced its glory days.
Boyd Gaming a Part of Stardust History and Future
Boyd Gaming acquired Stardust in 1985 and operated the casino until 2006. However, due to the economic recession in 2008, plans to demolish the original building and construct a new project called Echelon Place were put on hold.
In 2013, the Genting Group purchased the land with the intention of building a massive $4.3-billion-dollar resort called Resorts World Las Vegas. During this time, Boyd Gaming retained the rights to the well-known Stardust brand.
So, after being such a big part of its past, Boyd Gaming will usher the Stardust name into the hearts and minds of many gamblers now and in the future.
