The Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters 2nd round takes place this Wednesday with the defending champion – Rafael Nadal – making his debut on the competition. Bookmakers Review breaks down the fixture below and lists the best available odds from green listed bookmaker.

Thiem vs. Haase

The high bouncing conditions on clay clearly bring the best out of Dominic Thiem. Known for his heavy topspin and outstanding kick serve, Thiem won 80.00% of his last 50 matches played on this surface. Adding to this, Dominic featured a tremendous performance earlier this year in Rio de Janeiro where he won his 2nd ATP 500 title. After reaching the 3rd round last season in Monte Carlo, Thiem is trying to go a step further on this year’s edition.

After four consecutive defeats in the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters opening round, the 2012 quarter-finalist – Robin Haase – didn’t experience any problems on his debut this week against Damir Dzumhur. Taking a look now at Robin’s numbers in the previous match, the highlight clearly goes to his return to serve with Haase winning 46.67% of the points played on Dzumhur’s serve.

These two players know each other well with Haase winning two of their previous three encounters.

Despite Robin’s lead on the h2h, this is the first meeting between these two since Thiem became a top 10 player. The Austrian is a future Roland Garros champion and it won’t be easy for anyone to beat him on this surface. Therefore, Thiem is the undeniable favourite to reach the 3rd round in Monte Carlo at 1/4 with William Hill while Bet365 offers 3/1 for Robin’s victory. Due to the low price on Dominic’s moneyline, the best approach is to take his -1.5 Set Handicap at 71/100 with Pinnacle.
