The Miami Open gets underway this Wednesday with the players from the bottom half of the draw in action on the men’s competition. Bookmakers Review breaks down the fixtures below and lists the best available odds from green listed bookmakers.
WTA Miami – Bouchard vs. Barty
Ashleigh Barty couldn’t ask for a better return to tennis after almost two years away from competition. The 20 years old Australian continues her successful comeback in 2017 with Barty winning her first WTA singles title a few weeks ago in Kuala Lumpur. Due to her low ranking, the Miami Open rewarded Ashleigh with a wild card to play the 2nd WTA Premier Mandatory event of 2017.
Eugenie Bouchard couldn’t live up to the expectations after an astonishing campaign back in 2014. Reaching the Wimbledon Final with only 20 years old proved to be too much for Bouchard with the Canadian unable to handle the pressure around her. Eugenie is currently ranked as world no.56 and with her last victory taking place almost two months ago at the Australian Open.
With Barty playing at such a high level since her return, it won’t be easy for anyone to defeat her. On the other hand, it’s impossible to trust on Eugenie due to her poor results in recent years. Therefore, Ashleigh is the main favourite to win this match with Ladbrokes offering 73/100 for her triumph while Bouchard is available at 5/4 at Bet365.
ATP Miami – Monaco vs. Delbonis
Two Argentinean players – Juan Monaco and Federico Delbonis – will fight this Wednesday for a place in the 2nd round.
Playing in Miami brings great memories to Juan Monaco with the former world no.10 holding a terrific 18 – 13 career record on this event. Despite spending five months away from competition due to a wrist injury, Monaco played a great match on his return to action in Indian Wells. Known as an injury prone player, this is not Juan’s first long absence. Therefore, Monaco is well aware of what he has to do in order to return to his best level.
After a brilliant 2016, with Federico Delbonis securing not only his career high ranking but winning also the decisive match on the Davis Cup Final, the last months haven’t been easy for the Argentinean. However, Delbonis clearly raised his level in Indian Wells after a disappointing Golden Swing, losing only in two close sets against the 2009 US Open champion – Juan Martin Del Potro.
These two players know each other very well. Not only are they Davis Cup teammates but this is also the 4th career meeting between them with Monaco leading on the h2h by 2 – 1.
Due to Juan’s long absence, Delbonis is the favourite to win this match at 71/100 at Pinnacle while BetVictor offers 5/4 for Monaco’s victory. Even though we agree with Federico’s favouritism, it won’t be easy for him to win this contest in two easy sets. With this in mind, our suggestion is for you to place a bet on the Over 22 at 93/100 at Pinnacle in a match where a third set should be required to find the winner.
