The BNP Paribas Open gets underway this Wednesday with the players from the top half of the draw in action. Bookmakers Review breaks down the fixture below and lists the best available odds from green listed bookmakers.
Bellis vs. Flipkens
Catherine Bellis continues her impressive run on the WTA Tour with the 17 years old just one step away from breaking into the top 50 for the first time in her career. Despite her age, Bellis is already a phenomenal competitor with an outstanding victory a few weeks ago over the world no.6 – Agnieszka Radwanska. This is Catherine’s first career apperance on this event with the young American trying to extend her good results after reaching the WTA Premier Dubai quarter-finals.
Known for her tricky backhand slice, Kirsten Flipkens is never an easy opponent to face. After reaching the quarter-finals in Acapulco, Flipkens is looking for another successful campaign in Indian Wells. Even though the high bouncing conditions on the Californian desert are far from ideal for Kirsten’s backhand slice, the Belgian already reached the 3rd round on two separate occasions – 2010 and 2013.
Looking now at the odds available for this match, the bookmakers expect an easy win from Bellis with Ladbrokes offering 33/100 for her victory while Flipkens is available at 5/2 at Bet365. Even though we agree with Catherine’s favouritism due to her terrific results in recent months, it’s hard to find any value on her current odds. With this in mind, our suggestion is for you to wait for an in-play opportunity if you want to invest in Bellis’ victory with 1/2 as the bottom line price to get involved. On the other hand, Flipkens’ +5.0 game handicap is also a good approach at 83/100 at Pinnacle in a match where we expect a closer battle than the odds suggest.
