The fate of the Gambling Bill

In an attempt to salvage the government\’s controversial gambling reform, culture department officials were yesterday looking for a compromise with casino industry\’s representatives about the content of the legislation.

To get the legislation to pass into law, the government needs unanimous cross-party support. Ministers hoped that an agreement with the casino industry would make it easier to reach parliamentary consensus.

It stays unclear whether a deal could be reached.
