The Racing Post revealed that Tote Chief Executive Trevor Beaumont accused Gala Coral\’s Neil Goulden of being “staggeringly naive” in making an offer to split the Tote’s business and hand the pool-betting, telephone and internet operations to the British racing industry for a nominal £1 payment.
“He’s trying to appeal to racing to come on board, but I’m amazed at the lack of thought that appears to gone into his ideas,” said Beaumont, a former Coral director, commenting Goulden\’s offer.
“He seems to be underestimating the intelligence of the British racing community. The devil is in the detail, and the offer to split the two sides of the business doesn’t add up. I can’t believe that will escape racing’s attention,” he added.
