Giuseppe Tarricone, General manager of the Italian online bookmaker, said to be against the Italian black out of foreign betting websites, particularly of those operating with licenses from other States Member of the EU, as he considers the block a measure to fight competition.

Tarricone added that competion is good as is an incentive for companies to deliver better services.

“I believe the solution to the problems connected to the Italian betting market is to be searched into other factors, such as the ties imposed by the AAMS (Amministrazione Autonoma dei Monopoli di Stato) and the taxation regime, which is disproportionate with respect to other markets,” he said.

Francesco Ginestra, Chairman of Sindacato Snai, the major Italian betting operator, said that Tarricone is attacking the AAMS because he wants to move Totosì to Malta.

Tarricone has not denied to be in talks with the Malta Gaming Board to obtain a Maltese Remote Gaming License.

In separate news, Snai announced the acquisition of 450 betting shops concessions for EUR 360 million payable in the next five years.
