Well, that didn’t last long. Tom Brady is coming back for his 23rd season after announcing his retirement weeks ago.
Did you know that someone bought Brady’s last touchdown pass for over $500k and then a day later, Brady said he would return? I hope whoever bought that is going to get a full refund if the invoice was already paid. That’s some crazy stuff.
Anyway, Brady is coming back and will be Tampa Bay’s quarterback for another season.
What Are the Odds?
The Buccaneers were +2200 to win the Super Bowl once Brady retired but are now around +1000 to win the Super Bowl. It’s honestly crazy how one player could change everything. But that’s Tom Brady for you. He’s the greatest quarterback and probably player to ever wear an NFL jersey.
Even with his heart potentially not fully in the NFL anymore, people are still believing in Tom Brady to put on a show this upcoming season. Brady threw for over 5,000 yards last year and also had 43 touchdowns with a QBR of 68.1. It’s not like he lost it, however, it seemed like he really wanted to go out a winner. The 44-year-old can still do a whole lot on the football field.

To be fair, the NFL free agency just started and we don’t know who will be returning for the Buccaneers just yet. Brady already lost out on Alex Cappa at the guard spot, who went to Cincinnati. Ultimately, this season will be better regardless of Brady’s teammates can stay healthy. That seemed like the big problem last year, especially on the offensive end.
Super Bowl or Bust
You’d also have to assume that this will be Brady’s final season. He wants to finish the year with a Super Bowl and then dart. With that, there are plenty of ways to bet on the Buccaneers with value. If you want to go extreme and play the longshot game, taking the Buccaneers to win the Super Bowl or win the NFC Championship game would be the way to go, given the current NFL odds.

To win the Super Bowl, the Buccaneers are anywhere from +800 to +1000 and to win the NFC Championship, the consensus is around +400. The Buccaneers are currently -210 to win the NFC South, so really, there’s not much value there, especially if the division adds Deshaun Watson into the mix.
Most Valuable GOAT (MVG)
If you don’t trust the Buccaneers but still want to bet on Tom Brady in his 23rd season, you can look at taking Brady to win the MVP at around +900 odds.
After all, last season, Brady had the most passing yards and most touchdowns thrown and ultimately had to do it with backup players and whiners like Antonio Brown.
The NFL would love the storyline of Brady winning the MVP award as a 44-year-old quarterback. That’s just unheard of and something that would be extremely hilarious knowing how many great young quarterbacks are starting to develop in the NFL.
There are plenty of decisions! Best of luck with whatever you go with for your NFL picks!
