When the news broke that Davante Adams would be joining the Las Vegas Raiders, I had to look twice. I couldn’t believe that Adams was going to leave Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay and team up with his former teammate in Fresno State.
Between Adams and Carr, the duo scored 39 touchdowns and 3,037 yards in just two seasons. That was the most among any combo in the FBS during those two seasons.

So if Adams was going to leave Green Bay, Las Vegas really does make the most sense. With Adams joining the Raiders and Russell Wilson joining the Broncos, the AFC West has a lot going on. The Raiders are still projected to finish last in the division between the Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos, and Raiders.

If Adams has a great year, Derek Carr will likely have a great year too. Despite everything that happened with Las Vegas last season, between coaches getting fired and players getting arrested, Carr helped the Raiders get into the playoffs.

The Raiders were inches away from tying it up against the Cincinnati Bengals, who eventually went on to win the AFC and lose in the Super Bowl. The Raiders are legitimate and deserve recognition and it’s mainly because of Carr keeping the team together.
Carr threw for 4,804 yards with 23 touchdowns and 14 interceptions last season and also had a 52.4 QBR, which was about average in the league. That’s not going to cut it and that is essentially the reason why the Raiders went out to bring in Davante Adams. Carr’s stats are going to look much better this year with Adams and a healthy Darren Waller. There are no questions about it.

Therefore, you can look at Carr to win the MVP award at +2500. Carr is a true leader. He’s a guy that simply cares. He’s no “BS” and says the right things every opportunity he gets. He’s now been given the chance to succeed and should be able to do just that with Adams running routes.
If Carr is going to potentially win the MVP, that would mean that the Raiders have a really good season. Las Vegas is currently +700 to win the AFC West, behind all three other teams in the division. It seems like the Chiefs always dominate Las Vegas but Tyreek Hill is now off the Chiefs and the defense for Kansas City doesn’t look all that promising right now, especially in the secondary.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers were a bit too inconsistent last year and could end up doing the same as last season under Justin Herbert. The Chargers are a great team but sometimes lack the game-winning drives and game-winning plays that the Raiders have in their back pocket.
Wilson
Lastly, the Broncos signed Russell Wilson but is Wilson going to be able to turn around a franchise that has been terrible since Peyton Manning left the team? There’s a reason why Wilson was able to walk away from the Seahawks without Seattle caring that much. He’s not nearly as mobile as he used to be.
So, therefore, the Raiders winning the division at +700 isn’t all that bad. With Adams, the Raiders should be stellar offensively and that could catapult the Raiders to the top of the AFC West.
