Our Verdict

88Sports is a blacklisted sportsbook with a rating of 1. A group called 4SportsPicks launched two sites – 88Sports and 8888Sports – which both scammed players.

The idea may have been to confuse players, capitalizing upon the popularity of 888sport, which is a legitimate online sportsbook. 888 Holdings is one of the world’s largest gambling companies, with brands such as 888sport, William Hill and Sports Illustrated Sportsbook, and it offers licensed, regulated online sports betting, poker and casino gaming.

88Sports is the polar opposite – a scam operation simply designed to steal from unsuspecting customers. For that reason, it is on our blacklist and we urge readers to avoid this online betting site.

88Sports Reputation

88Sports has an appalling reputation. Some online betting sites landed on our blacklist after slow-paying players and offering poor customer service, but they did eventually pay most bettors out. 88Sports does not fall into that category, as it was seemingly always designed as a scam.

The company ran the same scam with two different sites – 88Sports and 8888Sports – which piggy-backed on the reputation of the legitimate 888sport brand. Similar scams have been run with online betting sites designed to sound like Bet365 in the past, such as 365BetUS.eu.

As is so often the case at blacklisted sites, the company presented an enticing façade and convinced players to deposit. However, it then simply refused to pay out. The company ran the scam with domains such as Playing24Hours too. It highlights the importance of avoiding new offshore betting sites with strange domain names and sticking to reputable, established operators with a long history of paying out.

Banking

88Sports is not currently accepting new customers, so banking is unavailable. In the past, it would offer simple, convenient deposits, but it would then dodge payout requests. Customer service was unhelpful, and players realized they had been stiffed.

Bonuses at 88Sports

Blacklisted sportsbooks also regularly offer enticing bonuses to encourage new sign-ups. It is important to remain vigilant, as any deals that look too good to be true should set alarm bells ringing.

88Sports Security & User Experience

The 88Sports site is currently very basic. It simply offers a login option for existing “partners,” but there is no option to sign up. That is excellent news, as 88Sports would only scam new customers if they deposited.

In the past, it offered a pretty basic interface, which was vastly inferior to the high-quality software on offer at 888sport. The poor quality of the software is often an indicator of a scam site, but some blacklisted operators look reasonably legitimate, so it is always important to check our rating guide or consult BMR forum members before signing up with an offshore betting site.

88Sports Customer Reviews

Customer reviews of 88Sports have naturally all been negative, as it was notorious for stiffing its unsuspecting players. You can always check forums to gauge feedback on obscure sportsbooks, as many of them are scams and they have been exposed for ripping customers off in the past.

Alternatives to 88Sports

You can sign up with 888sport in lots of different betting markets. Unlike 88Sports, 888sport is a very impressive online sportsbook with elite software and reliable payouts. However, it is not available in the United States – the company only offers SI Sportsbook in a few states – so you will need to use an alternative sportsbook to wager on your favorite sports. We recommend these A+ rated offshore betting sites, which are available nationwide and always pay out:

  • Bookmaker | One of the oldest and most reputable offshore sportsbooks in the business, with a reputation for welcoming all action.
  • Heritage Sports | This sportsbook previously followed an invite-only model, but it has started accepting all players after the demand for its services spiked following very positive customer reviews.
  • Bovada | Possibly the most famous offshore sportsbook, which offers a  wider range of betting options than its rivals, along with the largest online poker network in the U.S.
  • BetOnline | Another very established, popular offshore betting site that provides great promos, features like live streaming and quick, reliable payouts.
  • BetAnySports | A reduced juice sports betting site, which pays out all customers promptly.

No matter what type of player you are, you’ll find a huge variety of wagering options and bet types at our top-tier offshore sportsbooks. From online casino games, playing slots, poker, betting on popular sports and horse racing, there truly is a wide range to be found at our leading sports betting sites.

88Sports Review - FAQs

88Sports has been online since 2008. It is a scam site with a history of stiffing its customers, so we blacklisted it, and we have always urged readers not to play there. The company previously operated another site, 8888Sports, which was also blacklisted.

88Sports is not legit. You might confuse it with the legitimate 888sport, a large brand that operates in many markets around the world. However, 88Sports is simply riding on that brand’s coattails and trying to scam players along the way. It is an illegitimate online sportsbook to be avoided.

88Sports is not a reliable online sportsbook. We have assigned it a rating of 1, which is the worst grade we award in our rating guide. That is designed to warn players not to sign up or deposit funds there.

We urge all readers not to deposit funds at 88Sports. It is not currently accepting new players anyway, so there is no way for you to sign up and make a deposit. However, it may return again in the future, and we would urge you to remain vigilant.

88Sports is known for not paying out. We advise all sports bettors to seek a legitimate offshore sportsbook that does pay out, such as Bookmaker, Heritage Sports or Bovada. Those sites hold top ratings with BMR, whereas 88Sports is rated 1, meaning it is blacklisted after scamming players.
