I love California. I've lived there multiple times. I still have good friends there who I visit every now and then. I'm still a big fan of the SoCal sports teams.

However, I felt i had to leave almost 15 years ago. I was over 40 living in a 1 bedroom apartment and felt my life needed a change. The unemployment was high, cost of living was too high, traffic was horrible, tax rates high, etc.

I'm glad I moved since it allowed me to invest in real estate on my salary.

flyingillini is right. Santa Barbara is a beautiful city. It's a great place to visit.
