Was really an interest in Keith’s music that drew me into some of the alt-country and guys like Townes. Obviously - Keith used alot of traditional country tunings. Blues and country just differing takes on backcountry American music and obviously Stones played Blues to start - but as the scene began to get crowded - they picked up some twang.
Keith led me to Graham Parsons and his story - which led me to people like Townes and Guy Clark which the. Introduced me to the whole Houston scene (where you can again reconnect blues like Lighting Hopkins to country). In the end - good music defies genres and labels:
