for most people, waiting 7 to 12 years now feels like an eternity, like the stone ages until now.

they do not have the patience.

i trade in and out of BTC but I always keep a base position after selling and pocketing my profits. if my Base position goes down XX%, I buy more to lower the Cost base. if it rips like it today, i sell out the entire position to capture the gains, then i buy back in.

remember, wash sales only count when you sell In The Red. to the contrary, when you capture gains, you can rebuy the position right away. no having to wait 30 days.

selling when I'm up ~7-10% to lock in the profits, the rebuying to keep a long position. if it pulls back after i rebuy, i add more to the position. if it keeps rising from the new position, i wait until it is up ~7-10% and then i take profits.

i have no idea of the LT potential and just how many years it will take for a big move up so i always keep a core position but i also want to rake in profits on pops.

I could not agree more with you.

It's always good to have something invested in btc... especially if it's money you don't need. Always see it as an investment and forget about it for a couple of years.

Now it is back down to 30,065

I sold the rip on 6/21 and took the profits, then rebought low 31s.

At some point i am probably going to get caught with my hand in the cookie jar but i cannot help myself but want to take profits when it rips because the steep moves always seem to settle and start drifting back before settling lower.........

not exactly.

unlike sports betting, i will not lose my entire position in a few hours on the martingale, and have collected winnings each time i sell the pops, so those winnings factor against my core position (though the taxes i will pay on short term gains will be high which is yucky)

i still have my core position of BTC

The only reason LTC is on the move is beacuse Kucoin has stopped BTC withdrawls while they are telling their customers to KYC by July 15th. LTC is the cheapest way out of Kucoin.
