Fans are calling on ESPN to suspend, or even fire, Pat McAfee for controversial comments he made about Caitlin Clark during his show on Monday.

Clark was, once again, the biggest story in sports over the weekend. She was shoulder-checked by a Chicago Sky veteran during the Indiana Fever's clash vs. Angel Reese on Saturday. The dirty play from Chennedy Carter was all over social media.

The storyline has once again opened a dialogue surrounding Clark's fame. Part of that dialogue centers on race, and whether or not Clark's popularity is based on the fact that she's white.

McAfee addressed that claim, in addition to the argument that the entire WNBA rookie class should be applauded for helping the league grow, during his show on Monday. However, his comments took an unepxected turn when he referred to Clark as a "white b--ch."

"I would like the media people that continue to say, 'This rookie class, this rookie class, this rookie class'. Nah, just call it for what it is — there's one white bitch for the Indiana team who is a superstar," McAfee said on Monday.

Fans are calling on ESPN to take action against McAfee for his controversial comment.

"This is just completely unacceptable. Interested to see how ESPN handles it. And his entire argument is not conducive to anything going on in the #WNBA right now. Just let the women hoop," said sports broadcaster Kim Adams.

"Beyond unacceptable," said Nicole Auerbach.

"ESPN laid off 20 people to give Pat McAfee $17 million a year to produce a show geared towards people who have been asked to leave a Chili's on more than one occasion," one fan wrote on social media.

ESPN has to address this. Pat McAfee can't be going around calling Caitlin Clark a "white b--ch" on national television. Action must be taken.

Don’t get the big deal here.

First - look who people are complaining about - he knows he needs to create controversy to keep his viewers. It’s who he is and what he does.

Secondly - is there really a doubt that an equally talented black lesbian would NOT generate this much interest? Not CC fault she is what she is - she is comfortable with it and profiting as a result. Good for her - note you don’t see HER complaining about this talking head and what he said. No - it’s just outraged offended folks who need to complain about their hero being called a bitch.

She’s talented, marketable and enjoying it and profiting from it - at the same time, some people are gonna say shit to get THEIR name in the headlines too. They know if they said it about anyone else - no one would care. So pick on the one name people care about and recognize.

2 months from now no one will be watching WNBA - Indiana will have won 5 games and Clark is gonna be putting up good numbers - but not leading in anything.

espn people are pure garbage now

Now ? - what’s changed in the last 5 years…or decade for that matter.

ESPN followed the path of MTV and cable news - got away from what made them interesting tv that people who were really interested in the subject matter they covered and turned it into a never ending quest of reality tv and talking heads repeating the same tired content.

Remember in the 80s/early 90s when there were SPORTS on ESPN and MUSIC on MTV ? Kids now days will not remember that - they will recall all the stupid “reality” on MTV and Stephen A and McAfee doing whatever they can to piss people off with moronic opinions. The only watchable ESPN show I can even recall from the last decade was Mike and Mike and that’s been gone for a while now.

Clark is hot news and everyone wants to ride the popularity craze she inspired. It will get old eventually - probably by her 2nd season. It’s sad because she is doing a lot of good for the sport - but between the outright (somewhat justified) jealousy of other players and the sheer over hype nature of her intro to the league despite not winning - it’s gonna be tough to maintain.

In the end though - she will be a game changer overall and will do more good. Maybe she will even bring a winning team together around her with another high draft pick.

At first I thought he was calling her a white bitch but it's clear he was just mimicking what the wnba nags call her.
That makes perfect sense.

And I think it ties back to some of the altercations against her:
1) The LSU girl Reese against her in college.
2) The girl who just shoulder-barged her.

It REEKS of jealousy. The colored girls might not like that.
