Isn't it SOP for employers to provide their workers with health insurance?

No. Not in the US.

A lot of employers will only allow their employees to ~30 hrs/wk so that the employer can avoid having to meet a lot of government requirements for full-time employees. Full time is 40 hrs/wk but some gov't rules kick in at 32 hrs/wk so they limit hours to control costs.

Its the American Way. Capitalism at its finest.

I wouldn't ask them to take the charge off, I would expect a hoity toity joint (googled it to verify and it is Frasier Crane/Patrick Bateman material) to do some Hebrew shit like that. My older brother (makes a very good living, way more than me) was flabbergasted when I tipped 6$ on the pin pad at Cafe Rio he was like "All they did was their job!" I was like "Bro, I got to see my food in the kitchen environment and got to watch them prepare it? I'll throw down an extra 5for that anyday"

Fidel did you order the "Black Guy laying on his back getting his mouth stomped on" dish ;)

I am happy to live in a country where is no tipping. On the credit card receipt there is not even a line for a tip.
That my friend is "pathetic" no onder they are out their selling wildlife, killing it, and barbequing it on the street. Bunch of CHEAP rice pickers over there.
