A story country boy Mickey Mantle told about taking city slicker Billy Martin hunting.
Mickey took Billy to a farmer who owned a bunch of land. Mickey said, “He lets me hunt here once in awhile. Stay in the car and I’ll go talk to him.”
So Billy stays in the car and Mickey talks to the farmer. The farmer says “Sure Mickey, you can go hunting, but can you do me a favor? I have this old horse who needs to be put down but I just can’t bring myself to do it.”
Mickey says OK. But then he thinks, this will be a funny prank to play on Billy. So he goes back to the car and says, “That old bastard says we can’t hunt here! I’ll show him!” And he grabs his rifle and shoots the horse!
He turns to tell Billy it was all a joke, only to see Billy shooting all the cows!
