Gymnast Mary Lou Retton 'fighting for her life’

Retton has "a very rare form" of pneumonia, Retton's daughter McKenna Kelley posted to Instagram, and "is not able to breathe on her own."


Kelley said Retton, 55, has been in intensive care for more than a week.

I was going to post this. Me and the gf were talking about this at dinner. Those gymnasts are “old” at 18-19. Most peak at 15-16 then get injured.

Guess that would make her 16 in 1984.

Hope the Russian judge doesn’t screw her out of making it through this major health scare.

She meant so much to the USA in those Olympics. She was great. Needed a 9.9 to tie for the gold on the last jump and nailed a perfect 10. Incredible!
