Algerian boxer Imane Khelif has won a gold medal at the Paris Olympics.
Khelif beat Yang Liu of China in a unanimous decision from all five judges. She had previously made headlines after facing scrutiny over misconceptions about her gender.

When did the Olympics' change their policy on this. In the mid 1970's they started testing to make sure that males only competed in male events. If you signed up as female you had to be female. Seems like there was questions over weightlifting and other events, probably the Czech Republic was at question.

Imane Khelif, the Algerian boxer at the center of a gender dispute at the Paris Olympics, has filed a formal legal complaint, citing being the victim of online harassment, her lawyer said on Saturday. Khelif, who won the gold medal in the women's welterweight category on Friday, has along with Taiwan's Lin Yu-ting been in the spotlight at the Games in a dispute that has dominated headlines and been the subject of heated debate on social media.

Khelif's lawyer Nabil Boudi told Reuters the complaint was filed on Friday.

"All that is being said about me on social media is immoral. I want to change the minds of people around the world," Khelif said on Saturday.

Sorry, that’s not a woman, neither is Lia Thomas, or any other these ‘former’ dudes. Should never have been competing in the women’s division in the first place, and we should’ve all had a collective “F#CK NO!!!!!” The first time this B.S. even came about. I have a feeling one day, much like slavery, ‘owning wives’, women not allowed to vote, or anything else that seems ridiculous now, this course will be rightened - and common sense will prevail much like it always does…..
